The Phosphate Rock Utilization Project forms one of the five components of DANIDA's Agricultural Sector Programme Support for Tanzania. The project is split into a Danish part which mainly includes educational and laboratory activities for the two Ph.D students, and a Tanzanian part which includes all other research activities including field and greenhouse experiments as well as laboratory analyses. Input and management obligations for the Tanzanian part is divided between the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives (MAC) and Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA). MAC provides experimental sites and pays the salaries of own personnel involved in the project, whereas SUA provides the necessary facilities for the additional research activities and appoints a senior staff member of the Department of Soil Science of SUA as the head and coordinator of the non-financial Tanzanian part. The financial units of the Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University and SUA are responsible for the financial administration of the project funds spent in Denmark and Tanzania respectively.
Prof. O.K. Borggaard is the principal responsible for the non-financial activities in Denmark, whereas Prof. J.M.R. Semoka is responsible for the non-financial activities in Tanzania.
